With episode #10 of The Last King released this week, I discovered a Whitney Houston song that I thought would be perfect my Emmy’s point of view in the book. I don’t necessarily think the words outside of the chorus apply to Emmy, but man, I love the chorus (or is it the bridge?).

Okay, so I HAVE to dedicate a video to Maurice White, legendary founder of Earth, Wind and Fire. Not only would I want some of his music to be on my hoped-for soundtrack for The Last King, but hands down Earth, Wind and Fire was beloved mother’s favorite group in the world. R.I.P Mr. White.

You’re probably wondering what Star Wars: The Force Awakens has to do with the antagonist Gilead, in my fantasy/romance novel The Last King….(read on)
“All Right” by Christopher Cross – Another Gilead And Emmy Song on the Imaginary Soundtrack of “The Last King” Novel
By A. Yamina Collins | November 14, 2015
I almost want to cry hearing this song. And my hope, even as I don’t yet know everything that will happen to Gilead and Emmy in The Last King, is that this song proves to be a song that describes their love.
Thinking Out Loud – Another Love Song, On the Imaginary Soundtrack of My Fantasy/Romance Novel “The Last King” By A. Yamina Collins |

How could this song not be part of the imaginary soundtrack to my sci-fi/fantasy novel The Last King. It’s such a sweet and tender song. And I think it relates more to the theme of the third installment of the novel

I have never seen one of frenchiedee’s vlogs before, but I love that she didn’t need to curse to make her point, that she has read quite a number of related books on the subject of white authors writing about black people, and that what she had to say was fairly to the point. Good job, frenchiedee.

It has been so long since I’ve written on this blog! Mostly, life has just taken up my attention. But that’s no excuse to ignore my ever-growing soundtrack of songs for Gilead and Emmy. And lately, I have been delighting in the Bob Marley tune “Satisfy My Soul.” I am particularly enamored with the line where he croons, “Oh, darling,…
“Then You Look At Me” – Another Song On The Imaginary Soundtrack of My Fantasy/Romance Novel “The Last King”
By A. Yamina Collins | April 24, 2015
Wow. I have not been on my own blog for quite some time; but you know how it is – work, writing, life. It all becomes a big distraction.
That being said, I was up late tonight listening to music and preparing to write, when I came across the Celine Dion song, “Then You Look At Me.” I thought, “perfect.” This is just the song to go on the imaginary soundtrack of my fantasy/romance novel “The Last King.”
“Can’t Keep It In” – A Gilead and Emmy Song, On the Wished-For Soundtrack of My Fantasy/Romance Novel The Last King
By A. Yamina Collins | March 2, 2015
This is definitely a Gilead and Emmy song for my imaginary soundtrack to my fantasy/romance novel The Last King. But I especially imagine it to be a song that Gilead “sings” in his mind to Emmy when he first tells her he loves her, in chapter 27 of the book.
“No Weapon” – A Love Song to God, From the Imaginary Soundtrack of My Fantasy/Romance Novel “The Last King”
By A. Yamina Collins | February 24, 2015
In my mind, the song “No Weapon” by Fred Hammond, is Gilead’s ode to God before his decision to turn against God. I picture Gilead as once having had a great love for God, and then losing it. And this song is Gilead’s love song to God.
